Over the summer I got a pile of hand-me-down books from The Mama...they're in a pile by my bed, so I've been reading my way through them. This is another book from that pile. This story is told between two women: Sarah, a British mother and magazine editor, and a 16 year old Nigerian refugee/illegal immigrant who calls herself Little Bee. It's hard to explain the book without telling the whole story [Even the book jacket keeps things vague...], but basically the two women's lives are connected in astonishing, life-changing ways that unfold over the course of the story. This is both a tragic and a hopeful story...devastating and warm at the same time. It is a little over-dramatic and far-fetched at times (or is it...?), but a very good read nonetheless. Have you read it? What did you think?
[interested in another book I've read? ask and I may send it to you...some restrictions may apply if it wasn't my book or I loved it too much to let it go]
